Haringey Council has announced a plan to increase the number of local nature reserves (LNRs) in the area and to promote wildlife in the borough.
Coldfall Wood and The Paddock have been identified as potential new LNRs by 2014.

The action plan sets out proposals to increase the number of LNRs in the borough, currently Parkland Walk, Railway Fields and Queen's Wood are the only three.

The Haringey Biodiversity Action Plan sets out specific targets, including: the setting up of new meadows, ponds and woodlands; planting of new trees; reduction of light pollution; installation of bird and bat boxes; and the organising of talks, exhibitions and activities to promote and explain biodiversity.

Councillor Dhiren Basu, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Lifelong Learning, said: "We want to encourage wildlife across the borough, ranging from public and private land to housing estates. Local residents will play an important part in this strategy by making their homes and gardens more eco friendly. The plan is a key part of our ambition to be the greenest borough in London."
