New 30-year lease for Highgate theatre

A new 30-year lease for Jacksons Lane Theatre, Archway Road, Highgate, has been approved by Haringey Council.

Jacksons Lane, which houses a 160-seat theatre, studios and cafĂ©, will now find it far easier to bid for grants to improve the condition of the Grade II listed building and support future programmes.

Funding from organisations such as the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Arts Council often depend on venues being able to demonstrate their long-term viability.

Councillor Bob Harris, cabinet member for resources, said: "Jacksons Lane is a well used centre, and a real community asset to Haringey. I'm delighted that we've been able to agree to offer a new lease which will hopefully keep the community centre in its current home for the next 30 years, and perhaps even further into the future. Jacksons Lane have already prepared some really impressive investment plans, which we're happy to support," the councillor added.
