Just to let you know that the annual Highgate summer fair will be held in historic Pond Square on Saturday, June 13 2009 between 12.30pm and 5.30pm.

Featuring stalls, food, roundabouts, activities for children, a steel band and an exciting entertainment programme I will send you further details as plans progress.

In the meanwhile John Plews would love to hear from any local performers who might like to appear (for free) on the stage. (Not bands/rock groups). He can be contacted on 0208 340 4256 or e mail john@ovationproductions.com

HIGHGATE VILLAGE’S ‘FAIR IN THE SQUARE’ – JUNE 13 2009

Highgate's “Fair in the Square” will take place in historic Pond Square, London N6, on Saturday, June 13th from 12.30pm to 5.30pm.

There will be entertainment and activities for the whole family - nearly all of them free. Performances will include a steel band, local groups and a Music Showcase. There will be a dog show and Camden’s Pearly King and Queen.

Especially for children, there will be roundabout rides, face painting, storytellers, puppet workshops and Punch and Judy shows.

The surrounding streets will be closed to traffic and lined with about 60 stalls selling all kinds of arts and crafts, clothes, plants and produce; local charities and societies will be well represented. There will be a traditional hog roast, and food stalls will sell cupcakes, ice cream and organic produce. Afternoon tea will be available at The Highgate United Reformed Church and at the Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution, which is also running an Antiques and Collectors’ Fair.

    Hullo
I only logged on here today, June 10th, to check details and times, and saw the request from January re local performers. I run the traditional ( irish ) music session, formerly at the Red Lion and Sun, now esconced at The Old Crown under our new landlady. It's probably far too late for both sides to come up with a performance, but please keep me onstream and informed for next years' event and we could probably give you some entertainment.
    Regards
    Pete Eiseman-Renyard
PS I shall certainly be dropping in on the event, wouldn't miss it !
